The crest is that of the Utah Army National Guard.
The coat of arms was originally approved for the 115th Engineer Regiment, Nevada and Utah National Guard on 21 September 1940. It was amended and redesignated for the 115th Engineer (Combat) Regiment, California and Utah National Guard on 15 August 1941. The insignia was redesignated for the 115th Engineer Battalion on 6 August 1942. It was redesignated for the 115th Engineer Combat Battalion, Utah National Guard and amended to delete the crest of the California National Guard on 25 January 1952. It was rescinded on 14 February 1975.
